2 hospitalized following suspected DUI crash in Gorst

GORST, WA – Two people were transported to a Tacoma hospital after a suspected drunk driver collided with a guard rail on Highway 3 early Thursday morning.

According to the Kitsap Sun, the accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on Highway 3 near the exit at the Highway 16 junction. Officials believe the 63-year-old man behind the wheel lost consciousness prior to colliding with the guardrail.

Both the driver and his 42-year-old passenger were taken to Tacoma General Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the collision. Authorities believe drugs or alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the incident.
